Some of my favorite rarities

Below are some rarer Old Time radio programs from various times that I find fascinating listening. I'll explain a bit of why its here under each show. In the future, perhaps you can share some of your favorite programs.

The House of Glass

This is a single episode from a dramatic series that was written by Gertrude Berg in 1935. It wasn't before The Rise of the Goldbergs, but like that series, it emphasized some of Gertrude Berg's extraordinary talent in taking a small human drama of life and making it very listenable. This is the only episode, I think, that exists of this series.

The Carter Sisters

I am a fan of old time music - not so much the big pop oriented Country music that we hear today. This is an episode from The Carter Sisters and their musical talent. It gives me that sort of warm feeling of imagining I am in a small rural town where no television exists and the rest of the world is far from my home. The radio is my only connection to the outside world as I tune in upon an evening and hear the strains of the Carter Sisters with their special guest Chet Atkins.

Delmore Brothers

Another old time music program from the thirties featuring the Delmore Brothers from the border radio station XERA owned and operated by the Goat Doctor himself - John Brinkley.

WLS Barn Dance

The Barn Dance was featuring its ninth anniversary show. A great program.
